Using Win 7 64 home premium and win 64 openttd 1.0.5.
Game started around 1830 with eGRVTS 1.0, av8 1.7 and sailing ships and all AI (set on random).
As long as I keep on playing the game goes fine.
But when I load a new game opentTD will not respond any more when (auto)saving.
I have to stop the game with Ctrl-Alt-Del leaving an empty (0 bytes) savegame on my disk. There is no error log.
Some early save games will allow me to go on, later save games not. My hunch feeling is that an AI could cause this.

My bug sounds fairly similar, so I'm tacking it onto this existing report.
The enclosed autosave is the September file. If you let it run to the October autosave, or if you hit "save", it stalls and never responds again. The close box in the upper right works (with Windows offering to send a problem report to Seattle -- I figured it would be more useful here.)
AIInstance::Save doesn't supply a limit of operations to perform for saving. As such an AI that implements an infinite loop will stall OpenTTD upon saving. In this case it's the RoadRunner AI that is causing the problem.
