A range as a property for an aircraft, limitting selection of availabe destinations for any particular flight (not total distance traveled), preferably with configurable scale parameter. As an addition - refit option to change proportions between payload and range (the function should be nonelinear peaking at most optimal and lowering cargo amount faster than gaining range). Different aircrafts, as it happens in real life, would have different purpose and maximum optimal range hence creating more variety in used aircrafts and more realistic limitations on distance/cargo.

Reported version: trunk
Operating system: All

Couldn't agree more. I'm joining to this request.
The RANGE property should be added for every vehicle model in the game, which would make it much more realistic. You should not be able to set the non-stop route for the plain, which will overrun it's maximum range.
As per RVs, trains (except electric) and ships, the refueling stations should be built along the route (to simplify this request, the depo might be considered as the refueling station). The land vehicle or ship, which runs out of fuel, should stop for a certain amount of time to simulate waiting the emergency refueling service vehicle.
To simplify this request, the only full-load range could be accounted and shown in the vehicle's specs, but it's obvious that the empty and partially loaded vehicles may cover a longer distance, accordingly to their actual weight (which is already the property of most vehicle types).
In addition, it would be nice to tie up the aviation accidents to run-out-of-fuel events (currently they use to crush without any visible reasons), but I'm going to place the separate feature request about airport's behaviour.
