Yesterday, I've tried to remove a half-tile long dead-end road. I used autoroad + remove tools. But an error message ("nothing to destroy" ...) appeared. The road really existed (some buses turned around here). Finally I used the 'Clear area' tool and demolished the tile and it has done.
Today I looked for a savegame to attach here, but that error didn't come again.
Reported version: 1.4.0-beta4 Operating system: Windows
I am not so stupid. I dragged over the direction it was lain, clicked exactly on the road piece... At the same time I wanted to remove one more piece and it disappeared immedialtely. But with this piece it was only possible to demolish it using 'Clear area' (bomb).
Dragging over road pieces doesn't work nicely any more. Many times I find the drag doesn't work so I have to very carefully click; it's really annoying with the # 3 road tool. I suspect dragging broke when clicking was fixed, as it used to be impossible to click.
