After startup OpenTTD complained (rightfully) that no base set whatsoever could be found. I allowed it to download it (it got zbase-r245 with 275MB... :-O ) and after successful download the attached crash occured without further user interaction.

It need be noted, that afterwards OpenTTD starts just fine when launched anew.

Can you reproduce it with the attached patch? If so, could you get a stack trace from GDB?

zbase-r245 isn't updated with the changes like the backspace button and did you have OpenGFX?

That patch disables content download:
(gdb) run
Starting program: /home/ingo/ottd/trunk/bin/openttd
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/".

Now... that's peculiar. After the default download was changed back to OpenGFX, OpenTTD starts fine also when using bootstrap (svn r25002).

I see no way to test that now or get a backtrace - as it worked before when not coming from bootstrap, but just starting with zBase-r245 present.

Maybe it is related to switching the blitter after the bootstrap GUI?
When bootstrap downloads a 32bpp set, it needs to switch the blitter afterwards.
