I had an issue on my Windows 8 x64 system a while back (version 1.2.3 i believe) where no sound at all would be produced by OpenTTD (x64 version in this case) I later solved this issue by simply using the 32bit version which worked fine. Decided to play again today opened up OpenTTD no sound, realised i was still on 1.2.3 so i updated to 1.3.1 and i have no sound at all, i can see the green bar in the windows mixer for the OpenTTD application but cannot hear anything. I tried both x86 and x64 versions of OpenTTD.

And yes i have both the OpenMSX and OpenSFX installed.

Windows 8 x64 Pro
Creative X-Fi PCI Card

Reported version: 1.3.1
Operating system: Windows

Ok i did a quick uninstall & re install. All the sounds work fine when OpenTTD is installed on my C drive, but when i attempt to install it on my D drive i have no sound.

According to the config file you have never visited the game options and picked a base set:
http://wiki.openttd.org/Game_Options

I guess by default OpenTTD randomly picks one of the installed basesets, and I guess it picked "NoSound" and "NoMusic" for you.
Can you confirm this by visiting the "Game Options" window from your D: installation?

The text is almost unreadable in high res on windows 8

The png is taken at 1600x900 but it is only worse at 1920x1080 - Is there a bug with scaling of the text?
