I was wondering if it would be possible to get some more options on the World Generation menu to provide better control over creating random maps? What I suggest:
An option to control the amount of desert in tropical climate. Like existing menu options this could be a choice of None/Low/Medium/High/Custom.
An option for "Land" when setting map edges manually, i.e. to have a continuous strip of land across a map edge as opposed to "Water" or "Freeform".
Allow town name selection from the World Generation menu: town names are an integral part of the map so it makes more sense to choose them here rather than in the Game Options menu.
An option to start a new game from within a game, i.e. to bypass both the main menu and World Gen menu. TTDP gives this option and it could be a useful shortcut for testing or just if you're fussy about your random maps.
People already think that the world generation window has too many options. So before adding more some serious redesign has to be performed.
Regarding the last option. Just do "newgame" in the in-game console. That allows you to regenerate the game even quicker; after the first time type that you can just press up and enter.
I don't think that having "too many options" should be confused with the need for a simplified or redesigned gui. Flexibility and simplicity are not mutually exclusive.
Another map gen suggestion: a custom option for "Terrain" where you can specify a max height level (i.e. 1-15).
Flyspray clean up: more than 5 years old, and not obvious what should be done with this next, so closing. If this offends, discuss with andythenorth in irc. Thanks for the suggestions :)
