I recently started to use OpenTTD, and am enjoying the game, especially the Scenario Editor!
...which brings me to my one and only concern.

The Editor only allows for basic roads and canals to be constructed, while the main game allows for railroads and airports to be built.

Being a creator for a scenario, wouldn't it be better for these features to also be accessible in the Editor, rather than just the main game?

A quick forum search and buglist check did not turn up any previous mentions of this suggestion; a reply or suggestion to this idea would be greatly appreciated.

Reported version: 1.0.5
Operating system: All

Roads and waterways can be used by all companies, but rails and airports (except oil rigs) can be used only by the player who built them. It's not only question of allowing rails/airports to be built, but also about vehicles actually be allowed to use it (as they would have to have no owner).

Then is it possible to create companies (either AI or player-controlled) in the Editor?

What you could do, start a multiplayer game create roads, tracks airports ...
Then save a game and quit multiplayer game.
Later instead of loading scenario you can load multiplayer gamesave and play a game as first listed company.
If there was more than one company ( e.g. AIs ), then you can switch to another company with CTRL-ALT-C cheat menu.

Reason for closing: Won't implement

Suggestion can't actually be implemented, as per Smatz comment. Closing as part of Flyspray clean up. Thanks for the suggestion :)
