Openttd in dedicated mode don't run without data files...
This is not a real bug but fixing it will allow the dedicated server of Openttd to be 100% GPL.
If this bug is fixed then we will be able to run a openttd server on GPL-only shared hosting platforms.
Any news? One should be able to build both client binary (openttd) which requires data and X stuff like SDL and dedicated binary (openttd-server or openttd-dedicated) which does not require data or X stuff.
For some features some graphics are needed or OpenTTD will horribly fail. One of these is the old map generator. As such OpenTTD cannot run without graphics files.
The major reason why this was requested was because there were no GPL graphics nor GPL sounds. Now there are, respectively OpenGFX and NoSound; OpenSFX is not GPL, but CC-sampling which is fairly free too though DFSG non-free.
NoSound/OpenSFX don't work in 0.7 or lower, but it does in trunk.
