Its a bit strange to have the tiles on the ground change from 1second to another.
It would be really nice, if it was fading from one to the other so it looks smooth.
Unfortunately, to achieve this, you'd need a sprite for each transitional stage through it, and for some GRF sets, there simply isn't room - especially if they want to maintain TTDP compatibility.
I just made it for 32bpp Extra Zoom Patch.
I introduced some new Palette constants for having more alpha values. Then I made the field sprites animated and fade the new field type in with alpha blending.
So for some time you see both field types. It looks quite good and very smooth. Although a bit strange for the part, where the balls appear at the field.
