perhaps something to do with when you couldn't build over diagonal tracks?

to reproduce *the quick way*

1. start ottd
2. make new scenario with a town in it
3. save scenario
4. play scenario, build diagonal train tracks around it, like the picture, but with space between the town and the tracks
5. save game, rename .sav to .scn
6. edit scenario, and expand the town

long method involves lots of waiting

Reason for closing:  Won't implement
Additional comments about closing:  LordAro: andythenorth: kill it.

Cleaning Flyspray, so closing. This one is evidence of need for scripted control over town growth (_probably_ newgrf, or some new layer - GS is too slow and doesn't respond to callbacks.)

Afaik towns only build bridges over water.

IMO no bug, I do not want towns to bridge everything.

  • Field changed: Type (Bug → Feature Request)
  • Field changed: Summary (towns can't build over diagonal train tracks → make towns build over diagonal train tracks)
Towns are coded to only build bridges over water. The not building over other stuff isn't a bug, but wanting that behaviour means it's a request for a feature.

in that case, you want to change the name to:
'make towns build bridges over more things'
