Changing company color fails sometimes on servers with lot of active clients.
Client changing color is kicked with "A protocol error was made and the connection was closed"
Server msg "Player has left the game(wrong company in docommand)"

Reported version: 1.0.2
Operating system: All

Is it possible you were moved to different company (by server admin or by yourself) just in the moment you were changing the colour?

What server are you playing on?

Does the server use NewGRFs? If so, which?

Easily reproducible in 1.0 branch with attached patch:

  1. Start server with max companies and AIs allowed.
  2. Pause server. Open AI debug window to easily see when an AI starts.
  3. Join with another OTTD instance as client. Open company-colour window.
  4. Unpause server.
  5. On client: Select colour from dropdown while holding mousebutton.
  6. Do not move mouse. Release mousebutton just after an AI started.

Anyway, this has been fixed in trunk some week ago, though for less severe reasons.
