Opened a save game that I had been playing from version 0.4 and this crash immediately resulted. In version 0.4 I was using the original graphics and sound sets. After upgrading to 1.0 I was trying out the new Open graphics and music sets.
Playing on Windows XP

Reported version: 1.0.0
Operating system: All

Could you attach the savegame that causes OpenTTD to crash?

So, then I realized that I had not downloaded any AI's from the available online content. I thought that not having an AI was probably the problem. So I downloaded a few and picked SimpleAI, reloaded the game, and the same error occurred.
Attached are the new crash files. Save game file is still the same as previously submitted.

In 0.4.0 the (unique) identifier of the waypoint was not stored on the map. Since 0.4.5 and above this is the case, however back then no code was added to make sure this was done for 0.4.0 savegames. OpenTTD 0.4.5-0.7.5 was not as strict about the map and did not really use the data besides for pathfinding, although it never compared it with the data in the list of waypoints. In 1.0.0 the list of waypoints is compared to the map and that causes it to fail (horribly).

Currently there is no workaround, except messing with the savegame yourself. It will be fixed in 1.0.1 though.
