When a road vehicle is blocked on the road (for some reason), the following road vehicles are waiting behind. When they wait on rail-road crossings, those vehicles will systematically be destroyed when a train arrives.
You can use the attached saved games to reproduce this behaviour :
- With "Railroad crossing 1.sav", "Train 3", when started, will destroy buses waiting for crossing another rail-road
- With "Railroad crossing 2.sav", "Train 1", when started, will destroy buses waiting for entering a bus station
Road vehicles should never enter a rail-road crossing when they cannot cross it completely (just like in real life).
I attach just a little screen shot to help figure out the problem.
The white train is mine and yellow trucks are the AI player's. The outcome of this is quite clear: the AI player will lose his trucks one by one, will buy new ones as a replacement, and those new trucks will be destroyed in their turn...
With articulated RVs, and/or more than 1 track, trains will regularly destroy RVs on crossing. Such realism in OpenTTD eh? Build a bridge. Grade separation. Community safety. Everyone's happy. ;)
Fixing this isn't a current goal for OpenTTD, it's remarkably difficult to solve reliably in the game.
Flyspray clean up: more than 5 years old, and no obvious way forward, so closing. If this offends, discuss with andythenorth in irc. Thanks.
