Situation: A subsidy fails to register when the cargo in question is delivered to a station attached to the primary station (via the Ctrl key feature) if the newly constructed attached station does not directly covers the destination industry/town.

How to reproduce:

  1. Check for a subsidy and build the required train stations.
  2. Build a second destination station (that does not have the destination industry in it's coverage area) and attach it to the station already built using the Ctrl key.
  3. Build a train and direct it to deliver it's cargo to the newly attached station.

Result:
The train will deliver the cargo and you will receive the money for the transport, but you will not be awarded the subsidy.

Desired result:
You are awarded the subsidy.

Openttd version:
The nightly build. I update it daily :)

Savegame:
There is only one subsidy in the list of available subsidies: Coal from Genningbury Coal Mine to Genningbury Power Station.
Train 24 is currently loading at Genningbury Woods.

The station (flag) must be within 9 tiles of the destination (industry flag) to work.

But then why is the industry accepting cargo? What's the purpose of the coverage area if only the flag matters?

The flag matters for the subsidy stuff and is primarily to avoid 'cheating' the subsidies.

Huh? How can you cheat a subsidy? I mean, you deliver cargo to the industry or not. What else can you do?

If the flag's already covering the town or destination, and the place it's dropped off is attached to that station flag, shouldn't that mean that the place it's dropped of should trigger the subsidy?

Yeah, but the flag of my station does not cover the destination. But the coverage area of the station does. The cargo gets delivered, but no subsidy is awarded.

All subsidies work with the 'rule' that the station 'flag' needs to be within 9 tiles of the flag of the destination.

This to ensure that someone is sufficiently close to the destination to be awarded the subsidy because the player made an effort instead of having a station in a town that accidentally services the industry. This ofcourse also has to do a bit with the scaling of the game; a large station as isn't (real life) bigger than the town it services, though the size says something about how many passengers are attracted to it.
